Ricardo Moody is a self-taught contemporary artist who creates intuitive acrylic paintings rooted in memory, sensory perception, and human connection. Originally from Orlando, Florida, Moody spent over a decade in Denver, Colorado, before settling in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, where he currently works as a full-time high school art educator. His geographic journey deeply influences his practice, often surfacing directly within his visual narratives.

Teetering between photographic realism and expressive abstraction, Moody uses daydreaming as a creative tool to recall purposeful interactions with people and places. His process begins with personal photographs and sketches, which he seamlessly blends with imagined spaces and symbolic totem objects.

Characterized by vivid colors and intricate patterns, Moody’s compositions impart a rich emotional texture and deep visual interest. By approaching each canvas intuitively, he invites viewers to form their own unique observations and project their own personal narratives onto his work.
